Join them, do not remain in real estate prisons where rent avoidance is the greatest crime.
Are buildings necessarily the most effective medium for space?
If not, what might nomadic space teach architects about our cities, institutions, systems, infrastructure, or social ecologies?
The other morning, I passed by a lump of blankets and realized that there were a bunch of people sleeping there. This was not in an alley someplace, but right on the public transit mall. It was cold (25 with the wind chill) and I would hate to be in their situation.
I think that these folks can be classified as nomads.
I started to imagine tent structures that were warm, durable and protective for the occupant. It would look a lot nicer to see brightly colored structures instead of shabby blanket mounds.
These nomads, for all intents and purposes, are considered outlaws and gifting them with shelter would not be something favored by the public.
These new nomads will travel and feed of the waste of a greedy, fat society and will continue to do so as long as public policy shuns them. Maybe it is the natural way of things.
Oh, I digress. Architects can design cool tents for urban nomads.
maybe the nomad is an architect himself, and sees his space constantly unfolding as he lives. You might witness the memory of his movement. Maybe this movement is his building. This question is relevant to the recent events in Japan. The tragedy might not be the natural occurrences that will happen again and again, but mans inability to be in tune with these occurrences. A nomad might just celebrate such awsome events.
